New Animal Inspired Tattoo
This is my new tattoo inspired by my love for animals and my hope to one day become a veterinarian. The heartbeat is weak and uneven before the love of animals, then with animals it is strong and full!

Can You Dance Like This Dog?
This is one of the most beautiful dances I have seen in a very long time! Bonus: the dog looks to be enjoying him/herself which is important to me - that it is enjoyable for the pet, not forced.

*CAUTION* New Spike In Cases In Rare and Dangerous Virus WORSE Than Lyme Disease That You Can Pass To Your Pets
There has been an alarming increase in cases of a virus called Powassan virus. The virus is transferred and carried to human and pets through tick bites. It is found in the United States in the Northeast and Great Lakes area and across Canada. It was discovered in 1958, in Powassan, Ontario, where it was identified in a young boy whom eventually died from it. Until just under a year ago there has only been 16 cases in Canada since 1958, all in the New Brunswick, Quebec and Ontario. In the past year infected ticks have been found across Canada from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, PEI, Quebec, Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia. Human cases have been reported this spring in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Maine.
The Powassan virus can infect the central nervous system, with similar symptoms to Lyme disease but much more severe, worst of all, there is no cure at the moment. The Powassan virus is in the same family as the West Nile Virus. Currently, approximately 10% of infected cases have lead to death. Infected patients are likely to become susceptible to both encephalitis and meningitis, which is basically the inflammation of the brain and surrounding tissue, which can cause neurological damage. Once a human or pet is bit by an infected tick, symptoms can start to occur in only a matter of hours.
Testing for Powassan virus was once only tested on groundhog ticks, is now being tested on blacklegged ticks. With the number of blacklegged ticks skyrocketing, it is worrying to doctors that they now carry the virus.
Although getting infected is rare, since there is a possibility if death and the sudden spike of cases, doctors are urging people to do everything they can do to protect themselves. Recommended guidelines doctors are giving;

- Avoid wooded and bushy areas with high grass
- Carry and USE bug spray
- Do a full body check on yourself, children and pets when spending time outdoors
- Take off clothes when you get home and shower immediately, if the tick hasn't started to feed you have the possibility of washing it off
- Put your clothes in the dryer right when you take it off, it helps prevent the tick jumping off your clothes and dry for at least one hour to kill the tick

I Bet You Smile At This Happy Dance!
You won't believe this transformation!
This is Bam Bam. He is a sweet, mid-aged dog. His owner says she brushes him regularily, however she only brushes him with a slicker brush - a bristle brush. Although a slicker brush is good to smooth out the top layers of fur, the brush does not demat the fur close to the skin. That bottom layer of fur is the main culprit for extreme matting.
Even though you may brush your dog regularly, it is VERY important that you use a METAL TOOTH COMB to get out the mats from the base of the fur. If you fail to do this, your dogs fur can mat up, getting worse every day. As mats build, your dog can loose blood circulation, get hematomas (build up of blood, can burst and leak lots of blood, needs veterinary care). And many other health problems.
It is very important to not only brush your dogs, but comb them as well. If you don't think you can keep up with this time consuming task, don't be ashamed to just shave your dog down to help them stay comfortable and mat free!

The Untimate Picture Of Loneliness
This is Sudan, he is the LAST male northern white rhino in earth at 42 years old. Sudan is protected 24/7 on this 90,000 acre reserve with 2 other female white rhinos, there are only 5 white rhinos left on this earth. On the reserve there are also 106 critically endangered black rhinos and 20 southern white rhinos. If Sudan doesn't successfully mate with one of the female rhinos on the reserve, the northern white rhino is doomed.
His horn has been removed to help deter poachers in the area. Rhinos are commonly hunted and slaughtered for their horns, which are believed in some countries to cure ailments, although never proven, the horn of rhinos are made from the same materials as our fingernails.
Sudan is the true picture of loneliness and what humans have done to our world. We will keep you updated on Sudan's progress.

New Dog Flu Virus Surfacing!! The What, Where, & How To Avoid
There has been a new dog flu virus that has currently affected over 1000 dogs and is responsible for 6 deaths in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Wisconsin. The virus most likely started in Asia. The strain has been found in China and Korea, it is estimated an infected dog came from China to Chicago.
The flu virus is not the same as the previous virus, named H3N8, that has been circulating since 2004. The new virus has been named H3N2 and exhibits symptoms very much alike a human flu:
Dr. Keith Paulsen from the University of Wisconsin-Madison explained the virus most likely spreads predominantly through nose to nose contact, which can happen at the dog park, vet office, on the street, at a daycare, and just about anywhere your dog can come into contact with another dog. I am not saying to quarantine your dog from others, just be vigilant and if your dog starts to show any signs of the H3N2 flu virus treat it immediately. Fortunately, there have been no cases of humans getting sick from dog contact, however, there have been reports of cats getting sick from being in direct contact with infected dogs, but no virus-positive cats have been identified yet.

- Has a 3 day incubation period
- An infected dog can be contagious for up to 14 days
- The symptoms can last anywhere from just under 5 to just over 7 days, however the cough can last for several weeks

I Have Never Met A Dog So Content With Being Held Like A Baby
Gotta love those dogs that are just so cuddly they don't care how they are being held! This cutie pie was just so happy to be held, he cuddles right into me when I scooped him up like a newborn baby!
What's your dogs favorites way to be held?

*URGENT* These Little Angels NEED Your Help
![]() |
One of the 3 litters of kittens - minus one |
I have this great friend Shirley, she runs the Paws & Tails Rescue. A retired nurse, she does everything she can for every animal she takes in. The rescue is at full capacity, but when she got a call and heard that almost 15 kittens and 3 mothers needed desperate help, she wasn't going to let them suffer. They were all found in a backyard, alone and scared, Shirley took them in without batting an eyelash. Every last kitten is sick, and all the mothers are extremely ill. Every last kitten and cat need veterinary care.

The youngest kitten approx. 10 days old

Shirley is just one person, although she loves and cares like an entire army. She needs our help. She has been selflessly helping these animals for years and she just can't afford to help these animals at the rate the other animals she has are being adopted out (the main way to make money towards vet bills).
It is our turn to help! Even if you can only help $5, every dollar counts.
Please share this post! The kittens/cats need to be seen as soon as possible!!

Thank you all!
