*Warning, this post will make you so angry inside and want to beat a fellow pet “owner”*
Katie Brown of Florida did something horrible over the past week and is undoubtedly proud of it. Which I can't comprehend, and neither can most of Facebook.
Katie decided to duct tape her dog's mouth shut to stop him from barking. She then concidered it a success after 60 seconds, which she then decided to take a photo and add it to Facebook. What possess someone to do something like that and then to post a photo on Facebook is just sickening.
And I have to say: this has gone TOO far now! I saw this image on my news feed a few days ago and immediately reported it. Now it is all over the internet and I am noticing other people like myself that reported the photo are getting nowhere with this photo. When I reported the image I got a message back saying “your report has been processed” that was it. I have heard from others that they also got that message but with some it was also said that “it does not violate their community standards”.
I want you to look this dog in the eyes and tell me you don’t see terror. If this is a “lesson” then I ask you WHAT IS A PUNISHMENT!? Not only can these actions not be tolerated but this horrible “it was only for 60seconds, lesson learned” attitude is despiteful! Who can honestly believe that tape was on for 60 seconds, and if it was, who has ripped duct tape off a hairy part of their skin? Or worse a tender place such as your nose or under your chin.
This has just got to stop, it is should our youth that it doesn’t matter what you do to your dog as long as it is only for 60 seconds the police wont do anything about it. Just come on Facebook. Realize what you are advertising here. I can’t post a picture of my nipple, which is used to feed a nourishing baby, which is against your community standards, but a woman is purposely and proudly abusing an animal and it’s A-OK. I wouldn’t want to live in Facebook’s community, that’s for sure. They are quite literally building a community where nourishing a child is against policy but taping a dogs mouth shut and being proud of it is totally okay. Just come on. This is just a joke right?
I just sure hope the police really are getting involved as much as they are saying they will.

Holiday Surprises Ahead! + A New Petopolis Family Member!!
Who is starting to get the holiday bug?? I am! There is just something about the holidays that brings out the inner DIY’er in me. In every family there is one thing that someone does every year, be it baking homemade cookies that our pets can enjoy, a paw print ornament, or some pet inspired decorations. Over the month of December I’ll be digging deep into the world of the holiday DIY’er, sharing – and attempting – some of the very best holiday DIY projects for us and our pets!
What’s a thing you or your family do during the holidays that you and your pets can enjoy? I’d love to hear them and don’t forget to attach some photos if you have them! Every week I’ll be highlighting a DIY project sent in!
I also wanted to take a minute to introduce Cinnamon! The newest edition to the Petopolis family!

5 Things Everyone Needs This Winter For Their Pets!
The best way to be safe and healthy this winter is to be
prepared! I’ve compiled 5 of the most important items to have ready this year.
1.
Jackets – It is very important to have jackets
ready in case of an extreme cold front. Even though your dog may love the snow
and/or the cold, that doesn’t mean your dog will be warm being stranded in the
cold when your car breaks down. It is always a great thing to have in the house
and in the car.
2.
Extra Food – Extra food is vital to have this
winter. Nothing is worse than being snowed in with a huge storm coming, except
being snowed in waiting for a storm and being almost out of food.
3.
Pad Balm – Thanks to the salt on the road mixed with
the dry air, our pet’s paw pads are at risk. The pads on our pets are tough
enough to support our pets throughout their lifetime, but like our hands and
feet, during the winter a little balm goes a long way. There are many different
brands of pad and paw balm, buyers choice!
4.
Reflective Leashes/Collars – Not only is
nighttime coming quicker in the day, but it is harder to see with all the snow
and other weather conditions. Reflective leashes and collars are a great tool
this winter because not only does it help vehicles see you, but the
streetlights can illuminate you for other walkers with possibly not so friendly
dogs.
5.
Oatmeal and Skin Care Shampoos and Conditioners –
Whether you bathe your pet or you go to a groomer for bathing, it is a good
idea to buy or request a skin care shampoo and conditioner. A staple of skin
care shampoos and conditioners are oatmeal products. Oatmeal is great for the
skin and many skin care shampoos and conditioners contain oatmeal on some
level, but like furry kisses, the more the better!
