This Story Will Make Your Cheeks Hurt From Smiling!

PHOTO: Karisa Lambert, 14, reacts as she is reunited with her stolen Yorkshire terrier Sam, at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport in Kenner, La., April 29, 2015.

This is Katrina Lambert, 14, overjoyed with holding her 10 year old dog, Sam, who had been stolen over 4 years ago.

Katrina and her family live in Louisiana, Sam was a birthday present for Katrina when she was only 4, they grew together and were the best of friends. Until one day, Sam got loose through a hole hurried under their fence backing on to dense forest. Sam was never heard from again. He had a microchip and the family was hoping that if someone was to find him, they would check him for a microchip. Fortunately, someone did find Sam, unfortunately, they had no intention of returning him to his home.

The details from then to when he was found are unknown. All that is known is that on April 14th, Sam was brought to a shelter in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, thought to be a stray. It was clear he had been previously taken care of although he was straggly and weighed a mere 5.5 lb. Although his depleted health, they were able to determine he had a microchip, and after a long 4 years, the Lambert family got the phone call they were waiting for!

The family wanted to get their beloved family pet home as soon as possible but didn't have the disposable income. They decided to set up a GoFundMe.com account and raise $200 to get Sam home. In no time they raised $255, but when United Airlines heard about Sam's story they decided to cover his flight, FIRST CLASS! "He got the presidential treatment!" Katrina said. It was decided the money raised would go toward getting his health back to peak condition.

PHOTO: Surrounded by her family, Karisa Lambert holds her Yorkshire terrier that was stolen in 2012 after he was returned to the family at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport in Kenner, La. on April 29, 2015.

With the help of the money raised and lots of love and time, Sam is back to his happy self and back home with his true family.

This story is just another example of why it is so beneficial to microchip your pets and never give up hope!

You Won't Believe What This Deaf Man Taught His CAT!

The things that animals can do is truly amazing.

When animals, such as cats, are hungry or want a bite of something, they usually meow to get your attention. This man is deaf, he wouldn't hear his cats meows for food or taste testing. So he taught his cat to ask for food in a different way; sign language!

Sign language has been a common technique for commanding something TO a cat or dog, however, an animal using sign language to tell us something usually only comes from apes. Well, this cat is setting the bar pretty high for other house hold furry friends!!

Check it out!

Pretty amazing huh??

Super Adorable Mothers Day Inspired Photos

Nothing helps us get in the mothers day mood like a few adorable mothers day inspired pictures!

Super cute baby and mommy monkeys

Momma tiger and her baby

One proud mom with her basket of joy

We can't forget the step-parents!

This adorable monkey was rejected at birth and has attached to this teddy bear, treating it like his mom

This adorable kitten was abandoned at birth then was adopted from this golden retriever!

Last but not least, these piglets lost their mother very young, they wouldn't survive without a mother, so their human caregivers decided to disguise them and see if this tiger - whom just lost her own baby - would take them in as her own, thankfully she did

I hope everyone has an awesome mothers day! Keep your eyes out, I will be posting about some great gifts for the fur mom!

Is Your Heart Prepared For The Cutest Shark EVER?!

In Mexico, a VERY tiny, juvenile male pocket shark has been discovered for the second time ever recorded! The adorable little swimmer is only 5.5 inches - 14 centimeters - in length and weighing only HALF an ounce - 14.6 grams)!

The shark was found in 2010, however it was only identified recently by Mark Grace of NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration). Mark stated "Discovering him has us thinking about where mom and dad may be, and how they got to the gulf,"

The last time a pocket shark was discovered was all the way back in 1984, 32 years ago, in the Nazca Submarine Ridge in the southeast Pacific Ocean. Although called the parker shark, this shark probably wouldn't fit in an average pocket, it actually got their name by the orifice located above it pectoral fin.

This is definitely the cutest shark I have ever seen, I would 100% love to own one!!

The Newest Grooming Trend Is For The Squares!

**I'm so happy to be back home and blogging from house/dog sitting all week,
had lots of fun with my rent-a-dog.
Thanks for your patience everyone!**

The newest grooming trend out of Taiwan is definitely catching attention from all around the world! It is a pretty basic premises; square or round heads, very square or round heads.

There always have been "square and round like" faces throughout all styles of grooming, however, the shape has never been so important until now.

This is an example of a square face.

This is an example of a round face.

I must say I do think it is pretty cute, in a 'show cut' kind of way. I don't think it would be a realistic, every day, manageable kind of cut. I feel like after one walk the square face would become a sad looking triangle. Speaking of triangles, is this trend strictly confined to squares and circles? Why not triangles or rhombuses? Here's a few more pictures:

What do you think of this new trend?

You Wont Believe Who Took A Joyride In Yarmouth!

Doggy Getaway!

Last week onlookers got quite the surprise in Yarmouth. Leaving from the animal hospital parking lot, Harry and Edward d'Entrement, discovered a joyride in session.

"At first glance, I thought it was a couple of  old ladies driving a little car" Harry said on Monday. He could tell that something just wasn't right. He said it wasn't going very fast, it was just kind of coasting into the road.

As the car pulled up beside them, they couldn't believe their eyes; Edward turned to Harry and said "Man, what's that? A dog driving?" Sure enough, Edward was right; one dog in the drivers seat, one in the passenger seat, making what looked just like a bad-a getaway from the oh-so-evil animal hospital. Turns out the owner of the Pontiac Vibe left the car in neutral and the dogs must of caused enough ruckus inside the car to start it rolling.

Harry told news "I was kind of speechless, I couldn't make sense od what I was seeing." The two got our of their car and snapped a quick picture as the owner retreated from inside the animal hospital. The men said they were in absolute hysterics as the owner apologized. It was the funniest thing they had seen in years they rejoiced.

I'm just glad everyone was okay and no one was hurt. Although I would have really loved to see this!

What would you have done if you had seen two dogs in a getaway from an animal hospital?

The Most Popular Cougar in LA, is male??

Usually when we hear cougar in LA, we think of a hot momma. Well, there's a new cougar in town and everyone talking about... him?

A cougar who had been hiding under a house in LA - who wouldn't move for bean bags, tennis balls, or anything they tried - finally came out from under the house on Tuesday. It had a red tag on its ear, signifying it is tracked and lives in Griffith Park which is right near the house he was found under.

The owners of the house said they wanted another cat, but not that way!!

There's now a vote on naming the cougar; Jack, Randy, and Griffy are the top names to decide between.

What's your favorite name? :)

Medications In Your House You Can Give Your Pets!

For the past two days I have been mega sick, like hug a toilet sick. Which got me thinking… Can you pass a cold/sickness to your pets? Also, if they do get sick, are there any medications that you would have around the house that you could give your pet?

Between dogs and humans, there have been no viruses passed from human to dog to date. However, between cats and humans there have been reports of viruses passing between the two. An example of this is the H1N1 virus was found in cats in the States. Also, cats and cats can get sick from each other that are similar to a cold, but good news, humans can’t catch those viruses.

So, let’s say you got sick and you notice your cat getting sick; is there anything that you can give your cat out of your medicine closet? Please remember, always consult your vet and it is always best to use medicine for cats, this list is only to be used if you need a last resort until you can get to a vet. In alphabetical order:

  • Anbesol: can be used only ONCE for mouth / teeth pain
  • Benadryl: half (1/2) MG per POUND – a 12 pound cat can have 6 mg – every 8 hours – for allergies/itching
  • Calamine Lotion: rub a thin amount to sore / itchy (outer) skin for temporary relief
  • Cortaid / Hydrocortisone Cream: apply no more than twice (2) daily to itchy / sore areas
  • Digel Liquid: up to 2 TBS, every 8 hours – for antacid and anti-gas
  • Dramamine: give ONE QUARTER (1/4) of a 50 MG tablet – approx. 12 mg – reduces car/motion sickness
  • Hydrogen Peroxide (3%): 10ml by mouth, repeat in 15 mins if not vomiting, do not exceed 3 times – used to induce vomiting if ingested poisons
  • Kaopectate: 1ML per POUND, every 2 hours – relieves diarrhea
  • Metamucil: mix half a teaspoon of powder into a small cat’s food, use a full teaspoon for a larger cat
  • Mineral Oil: up to 2 tbs daily – eliminates constipation
  • Neosporin / Antibiotic Ointment: can be used no more than four (4) times a day to help prevent infection
  • Pedialyte / Gatorade: dilute with 1:1 amounts of water to help with treating dehydration
  • Vicks VapoRub: dab a small amount onto your cat’s chin to help ease breathing

Now, what if your dog is getting sick? Can you give your dog any of your medications? Yes, yes you can. In alphabetical order:

  • Benadryl: (same with cats) half (1/2) MG per POUND – a 20 pound dog can have 10 mg – every 8 hours – for allergies/itching
  • Buffered Asprin: 5MG per POUND, every 12 hours – for pain relief/anti-inflammatory
  • Digel Liquid: up to 4 TBS, every 8 hours – for antacid and anti-gas
  • Dramamine: up to 50 MG, every 8 hours – reduces car/motion sickness
  • Hydrogen Peroxide (3%): 10ml by mouth, repeat in 15 mins if not vomiting, do not exceed 3 times – used to induce vomiting if ingested poisons
  • Immodium AD(liquid or tablet): 1ml per LB or 1mg per 20LB, every 8 hours – relieves diarrhea
  • Kaopectate: 1ML per POUND, every 2 hours – relieves diarrhea
  • Mineral Oil: up to 4 tbs daily – eliminates constipation
  • Pedialyte / Gatorade: dilute with 1:1 amounts of water to help with treating dehydration
  • Pepto Bismol: 1TSP per 5 lbs or 1 PILL per 20 POUNDS, every 6 hours – used to control diarrhea, vomiting and gas
  • Prednisone (by prescription) : check with your vet for dosage information, it is prescribed for inflammation
  • Rimadyl (by prescription): check with your vet for dosage information, it is prescribed for arthritis
  • Robitussin DM: 1 TSP per 20 POUNDS, every 8-12 hours – used to help with coughing and hacking
  • Kaopectate: give 1 teaspoon per 10 pounds to help control diarrhea and vomiting - a 20 pound dog can have 2 teaspoons
  • Tagamet / Pepcid AC (Antacids): Check with your vet for dosage information, they are effective at controlling vomiting and acid irritation caused by ulcers

NEVER GIVE YOUR PET IBUPROFEN OR TYLENOL!!!

Always try to check with your vet before you give your pet any medication, but if you are out of options, these are great options until you can get to a vet!!

A Tragic End To A Brave, Loving Best Friend, And Mother. RIP

RIP Beautiful Paisley & Puppies

On February 10th, a beautiful German Shepherd dog gave birth to 7 adorable puppies; four (4) girls and three (3) boys. The mother, Paisley, a proud mother loved to play with her pups in the open yard. She also was a bit stubborn, she wanted to nurse her puppies in the barn beside the house. Although the family wanted the pups inside, they wanted their best friend to be happy, so they set up a nursing area for the dog and her pups.

Unfortunately, this story is not a happy one. Due to a electrical shortage, the barn caught fire. Trapping Paisley and her 7 pups inside. Paisley's true love, courage, and devotion was shown that night, although she and her pups did not survive the blaze, the pups were found all huddled together in a corner with Paisley on top of them shielding them from the blaze.

Animals continue to amaze me with their devotion to their human companions and each other. This story is truly heart breaking, but it shows the true character of how amazing Paisley was and she will be at peace with her puppies in heaven!

Thanks for reading and give your pet a big hug and kiss from us!

Bet You Can't Hold A Straight Face When You See This!

This picture makes me smile every time I see it!
Going away,  be it for school, vacations or just going to the grocery store, is always hard when you have to leave your beloved pet behind.  This genius wife found a way to fix this problem!
While in a different state for work,  this man and his dog really missed each other. So his wife set up a Skype date to help his home sickness. Having a Skype date is not necessarily new,  but a Skype date with your pet is an awesome idea!

Would you go on a Skype date with your pet?

You Won't Believe Who This Diver Met Underwater!

This video surfaced a little while ago, however, it only went viral recently. Diver Darren C, (the diver in the video) was 'doing his bit for Thailand's oil and gas industry' when he encountered a rather large and curious sea turtle. He managed to share a beautiful, once in a lifetime experience. The best part of it all, it was all caught on camera!

There are many theories as to why the turtle was so attracted to Darren; the air bubbles looking like jelly fish (a main food staple of the sea turtle), the smell of shellfish on the diver from previous days, or the ROV looking like a fellow turtle. Whatever the reason, be it curiosity, sensual, or hunger, this truly is a beautiful experience.

Please Do Not Do This, This Easter

Unfortunately, in the hustle and bustle excitement of Easter. It is very easy to get caught up in the 'bunny hype' and forget how much of a commitment getting a bunny is for a pet/gift. Bunny Rabbits are bought as gifts for Easter, then end up on Kijiji, Craigslist, or your local shelter by June when Easter excitement has worn off. It is also important to remember that giving a bunny as a gift is getting a pet, not just "giving a gift" Getting a new pet is always exciting, but I beg that you do you research before you decide to add a new family member to your clan! Although we definitely need as many people as we can to adopt bunny's in need of a home, we also want them to stay at their forever home. So with that being said, please do your research before you decide to give a bunny this Easter.

Here's some quick facts you may not have known about Bunny Rabbits!

1. Approximately over 2 million U.S. and ________ Canadian households own a pet rabbit.
2. Rabbits teeth never stop growing, ever! That's why it's so important that they have chew toys to chew on.
3. The largest litter of bunny's consisted of 24 kits (baby bunny's)!
4. Unbelievingly rabbits can be litter trained like a cat.
5. Also alike cats, rabbits can purr.
6. Rabbits can live up to 10 years - which is why it is so important to commit to a bunny before you decide to adopt one.
7. The World’s Largest Rabbit named “Darius” weighs approximately 50 pounds and is currently 4 feet, 3 inches.
8. The “most valuable” rabbit on Earth, “Darius”, is currently insured for around $1.6/million and has his own personal caretaker aka body guard.
9. Rabbits cannot vomit.
10. Rabbits have 28 (ever growing) teeth.

I hope you enjoyed these quick facts and remember;
If you have decided to get a rabbit this Easter, Adopt Don't Shop!!
Most of the shelters around you have rabbits, and those who don't will know another shelter that will.

Happy Easter!
