The New Groomers Anthem!

I came across this song while scrolling through Facebook and I couldn't stop laughing throughout the whole song!

Every groomer can relate to matted dogs, and uncooperative owners.

You Won't Believe What This Groomer Does!

Okay, everyone has a bad day, but it is NEVER okay to take it out on a dog! As a groomer, I have dealt with angry, resistant, and aggressive dogs. Sometimes, you just need to put the dog away for a minute and let him/her relax. It is never alright to tug/pull on a dogs leg! I am just blown away with this video!

A woman dropped her dog off at the salon and expected her dog to be taken care of. She left and waited to hear back from the salon to pick up her dog. Another woman driving by happened to glance into the window connected to the salon. To her surprise, she sees this groomer, at first, being quite rough. Then as the dog gets more scared, the groomer continues to become more and more rough, slapping the table and yanking on the dogs leg. So hard that the dog yelps in pain.

The woman watching through the window, in utter disbelief, stops recording, parks, and goes into the store immediately to talk to the manager. The manager assures the woman that the employee will be talked to. The woman then goes home and puts the video on Facebook and it goes viral.

Petco has made an official statement; There are strict grooming protocol in place to ensure the safety and well-being of pets, and we are very concerned by the conduct of the groomer in the video. After a thorough investigation, this employee is no longer at Petco.

Daily Dose Of Cuteness!

Baloo the bear, Leo the lion, and Shere Khan the tiger were all found together locked in a basement. They were in very bad condition, but were inseparable.

Once they were taken in and cared for they could've been separated, but since they had been through so much, they kept them together through the healing process.

Now all grown up, Baloo, Leo, and Shere Khan are best of friends!

I absolutely love stories like these! They melt your heart but at the same time it makes your heart full of joy because of the outcome!

Send in your amazing stories!!

Why it's vital to trim your dogs nails!

Many people try and put off doing their pets nails. For many reasons, such as money,  don't want to go to the groomer, or they just don't have the time. However, as a groomer I have to let you all know the damage you are doing to your pets feet!
When the nails are long the Metacarpal, Phalanx 1, 2, and 3 are all stretched to accommodate the nail pressure pushing against the ground. Which not only puts a strain on these bones,  but it also puts a strain on the muscles supporting these bones which can lead to lameness, pain, swelling and many other skeletal and muscular problems.
Please remember to get your pets nails trimmed regularly: about once every 3-4 weeks.

You Won't Believe This New Rising Grooming Trend!

There have been some pretty amazing - and awful - grooming trends throughout the years. Recently, dog chalking and dyeing has been on the rise of the popularity ladder. At the top of the ladder now-a-day seems to be what I like to call the Full Costume Groom.

I dont own these images, but man do I love them! :)

Personally, I love this trend! I think just about any dress up for a dog is absolutely adorable, but who didnt want their own care bear, panda, or tiger as a kid, or even now. The Full Costume Groom is basically when a dog is dyed from head to toe in a character that doesnt involve an article of clothing or accessories to complete the "look".

Duke Is Just An Ordinary Dog, Or Is He?!

Ordinary dogs from all over the world commit amazing act every day, Duke is no exception! When I first read this story my jaw dropped. I love reading these stories, animals really are such loving and giving creatures, they all deserve a loving home.

6 years ago Duke was adopted from a local shelter. He was given love and kindness. He then became a protector when Harper, the family's baby, was born. One night once the family was asleep, Duke came into the parent's bedroom, jumped on the bed and started shaking so vigorously that it woke them up. Once they woke up he continued to shake uncontrollably. Duke was always extremely obedient, so they knew something was wrong. They decided to check on Harper, to their surprise, she wasn't breathing. They called 9-1-1 and rushed her to the hospital. Harper made it through okay. Thanks to Duke, the parents woke up, otherwise, they would've slept through the night and Harper may not be here today.
The family hopes this story helps encourage other families to adopt not shop! Stray/shelter dogs are just as important and smart as store bought dogs.

Check out ABC's report on Duke!

Your Dog Can Sniff Out Cancer?!

It doesn't get much cooler than this!

Dogs have been used for many things in science throughout history: diabetic emergencies, seizure warnings, and much more! In 2004 scientist really started putting dogs' sense of smell to work; they believe there is a distinguishable smell between healthy and cancerous tissue.  They are hoping to manufacture nanotechnology that can detect cancerous tissue as small as 1/100,000 of a piece of paper! For the time being lung, breast, bladder, melanoma, and prostate cancerous tissue are being tested.

Mcbaine, a black and white Springer, working with Penn Vet Working Dog Center, has
been carefully trained to sniff out cancerous tissues.

During a routine test, 12 tiny arms pertrude from a small table. Each holding a small
blood plasma sample, one with a drop of cancerous tissue. Mcbaine made one, focued pass around the table and made a confident decision at sample #11, the cancerous-tissue sample.

It is truly amazing what our dogs can do, they continue to amaze me every day!
